A celebration of humanity and generosity in the direct selling channel
Happy Thanksgiving Direct Sellers! And in the spirit of the start of the holiday season, I am thrilled to present you with SSN’s first ever philanthropy issue. We have dedicated many features of this edition to highlighting your generosity and eagerness to create a better world.
Over the past year, as I have researched stories, learned about your companies and spoken with so many of you, I have been truly inspired at how deeply the humanitarian spirit permeates this business channel.
From C-Suite execs to individual distributors to the great suppliers of this industry, the hands-on labor, monetary and on-location assistance, and, in many cases, literal groundbreaking support that so many of you are providing for people in need is incredible.
Benefiting the impoverished, the hungry, the battered, the homeless, and the sick, among so many other causes, direct sellers are making a substantial impact on our global society and the environment with their steadfast work.
As the U.S. makes its way down from the latest COVID-19 surge, I am also grateful for the many ways in which this channel moved so quickly to support efforts to end the pandemic. Some companies shifted their manufacturing facilities to produce hand sanitizer, while others are gifting desperately needed products to first responders, hospitals, children’s centers and churches.
The inspiring details about these ongoing efforts to give back, help out and lift up can be found throughout this issue. We have news about philanthropy statistics in the channel, details of these efforts and the motivations behind them in the Special Report and a Quick Takes segment with some of the biggest humanitarian wins of the year.
Finally, I am very happy to announce that SSN will be sending a portion of the proceeds from this philanthropy issue to a cause that is close to our hearts — literacy. Thanks to the loyalty of our wonderful sponsors, we are grateful to be able to support the National Center for Families Learning (NCFL).
NCFL works to eradicate poverty through education solutions for families. Partnering with educators, literacy advocates, and policymakers, NCFL develops and provides programming, professional development, and resources for them.
I encourage everyone to learn more about this organization at familieslearning.org.
Thank you again for all of your efforts to bring about a better 2022 and beyond, and thank you for reading!
