Supported by beauty companies such as Beautycounter, Revlon, and Procter & Gamble, Senators Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) and Susan Collins (R-Maine) have introduced a bill designed to strengthen the FDA’s efforts to regulate the personal care industry.
The Personal Care Products Safety Act would require the FDA to evaluate a minimum of five ingredients in personal care products per year. Additionally, the bill provides the FDA with authority to recall products, require annual registration of manufacturers and issue GMP regulations for personal care products.
