In a statement from FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb, M.D., the FDA plans to implement one of the most significant modernizations of dietary supplement regulation and oversight in over 25 years citing that, “as the popularity of supplements has grown, so have the number of entities marketing potentially dangerous products or making unproven or misleading claims about the health benefits they may deliver.”
On Feb. 11, the same day this statement was released, the FDA took action against 17 foreign and domestic companies claiming to cure Alzheimer’s disease.
